The interior styling of this 2 bedroom maisonette in Notting Hill was mainly focused on finding its personal character through curated furniture, accessories, and a cohesive colour palette.
Our client did a great job in previous renovations and the property was in really good shape. However, she was missing personality and warmth, and she contacted us to bring life into the rooms of her property.
When we first visited Georgina, we instantly understood her needs. She loved her maisonette, but she needed some ideas to improve it. Adding some colour and textures we helped her transform that beautiful property into her home.
“A cohesive colour palette brings calm and order to all the rooms of the property.”
She was passionate about minimal aesthetics and the property had a neutral colour palette focused on white and grey tones. She also liked burgundy colours, and we helped her find the right way of mixing and matching these tones around her home.
In addition to find a colour scheme for the whole property, we also helped our client to add contrast and interest into her kitchen and living room areas.
Our client felt that these two rooms were a bit plain, and we proposed several wall treatments to enhance the overall look of the property. Finally, we decided to go with a microcement wall in the kitchen and the living room to add texture, at the same time that contrast.
The colour selected for the microcement was similar to the original tiles of the kitchen. This way, we integrated the existing colour palette into the new design scheme.
Once we had a defined colour scheme and the idea of the wall treatments, we started the search for accessories and furniture to complete the design.
An additional seating area in the living room, a new coffee table, lighting and accessories, were some of the requirements for the first floor.
We also helped with the selection of furniture to complete the main bedroom and different ideas for the entire property as part of our interior styling.
One of the things that we wanted to achieve with our interior styling was to find the best way to showcase existing pieces of art, books, and accessories. In order to achieve the best result, we also recommended new items and furniture to complete our client’s needs.
“Styling shelves and corners in the right way can convert a normal interior into a stunning one.”
Therefore, we helped our client to find new decorative items like vases, plants, lighting… and we combined those new items with the existing ones that she already had to create a beautiful combination for her shelves.
To style her shelves, we started as we always do: removing everything that didn’t work and changing accessories from one side to the other until the composition was cohesive and functional.
The existing kitchen had neutral beautiful tones and it was easy to integrate the selected colour scheme into this room too.
As we mentioned before, the interior styling of this room consisted of enhancing it. We achieved this by creating a background with the microcement wall and adding fitted cushions for the bench and accessories to complete the look. At the same time, we also helped our client to find the best place for her art pieces and frames.
The living room shelves were crowded with books and our client wanted to give them a fresh reorganisation.
We helped her to find a nice composition showcasing not only books but also frames, plants and accessories. This way, the shelves become part of the design not only being practical but also enhancing the overall look of the room.
Besides styling the shelves, we also helped our client to make the most of this room. With the new wall treatment and the addition of two armchairs, a side table and lighting, we converted a corner in the living room into a new seating area.
The Noguchi coffee table was the perfect addition to the living room. We wanted to add warmth and to make the room more inviting. The round shapes and the wooden legs of the table helped to smooth out the straight lines of the rest of the furniture.
“The combination of different textures and materials is the secret to achieve successful minimal interiors”
Apart from selecting accessories and furniture, the design of the different areas and the styling of the shelves, our interior styling service also included advice and guidelines about how and what to select in future purchases. This is very useful because with those guidelines our clients can maintain the cohesive look in their properties.
Following the same pattern as in the living room, we helped our client to style her shelves in her bedroom as well.
New accessories were added and reorganised with the existing ones. We found the best place for every item and we recommended some new accessories like cushions, blankets and the armchair for the room.
As a result, the entire property changed and improved. Every room tells the same story now in a cohesive and beautiful way. And most importantly, our client achieved the desired look for her home.
