Design Brief

Neutral and clean interior design

The Axis Clinic is a professional medical aesthetics clinic in North London. They are professionals that want to offer the best experience, services and products to their clients and wanted to reflect that in the design of their clinic.

Part of the brief was the reception area, the medical rooms, the massage room and the bathroom. For their clinic, they wanted a clean design that at the same time was inviting, comfortable and calm.

Concept Design

Natural elements bring warmth into the design.

The use of natural materials was the key element to ensuring that the clinic would feel warm and inviting. At the same time, we had to think about the best materials for maintenance and cleanness, so one of the first decisions was the use of wood effect tiles for the floor.

“A selection of natural materials add warmth and contrast into the minimal look of the clinic.”

The wood panels and bench accentuate the warmth that the floor brings. These natural materials and finishes work in contrast with the clean and minimal look of the reception counter, bringing it all together with black and brass touches in the design.

Before and After

From bare materials to the final design.

We visited the property when it was all bare materials and concrete. The space was a diaphanous rectangle and we had the flexibility to completely transform the layout.

According to the brief, we needed to include 4 rooms, so the first part of the project was to think about the best ways to maximise its layout and to make everything fit in a practical and coherent way.

First impressions matter

Reception area

We paid special attention to the entrance and reception area. As you come inside the clinic, this is the first thing you see. It is where you get a sense of what the space is, its mood, how it looks like, and what you can get from it, so for commercial projects, entrance and reception rooms are the most important part of the design.

“For commercial projects, we always focus our attention on the most crucial elements of the design.”

So we wanted to approach the entrance design as the star of the project. Thinking about how the clients would feel when entering the clinic, we wanted to communicate the sensation of medical professionalism at the same time as having a warm area where people could feel comfortable and cared for.

The bespoke counter was created with different shades of light grey microcement. This adds texture to the reception area and contrasts with the black reflective element that contains the logo and brand of the clinic.

To make this area more prominent, the pendant lamps on top of the counter are framing the space and enhance the counter even more.

Following the minimal look of the clinic design, the white wall with shelves as the background of the counter gives all the protagonism to the exclusive aesthetic products that the clinic uses and sells.

Neat and practical workspace

The clinic rooms.

The design of the rooms follows the same principles and concept as the entrance design and reception area.

We maintained the clean and natural vibe in the rooms, using the same materials, elements and colours. Wood, white, brass and black.

Storage was important to keep things tidy and the furniture needed to be practical at the same time that following the proposed colour scheme.

All the details were meticulously thought out. From the wall colour paint of the walls, the finish of the cabinets, the handles… to the clinic chairs and working station.

“The design brings the same harmony from the reception into the rooms”

The big mirrors are useful while the treatments are done, at the same time that they enlarge the rooms and make the space feel brighter.

Accents that elevate the design

Bathroom.

The bathroom follows the same colour scheme as the rest of the clinic and it is accentuated with brass accents combined with the wooden floor and the marble basin.

The light behind the mirror creates a very nice and calm mood with the right amount of light for this room.

“A clean and minimal aesthetic combined with warm and elegant materials are the essence of the clinic design”

What our clients say about us
