The goal for this London full house refurbishment was to transform a traditional London house into a beautiful, contemporary home with open-plan spaces designed in a luxurious style. A neutral colour scheme and lots of clever, bespoke storage solutions were a must.
For this full house refurbishment, our client wanted a calm design scheme. A tranquil, practical retreat that was a joy to return to at the end of a busy day and an impressive space for entertaining.
“We were able to provide our client with a wide range of solutions from our interior design services whilst guiding the design process.”
The design scheme for the refurbishment was agreed upon quickly. For this purpose, elegant warm woods and accents of dark monochrome hues would give a variety of light. Also, neutral tones in natural textures, add the luxurious, masculine finish our client desired.
When we first visited the London property, we were really inspired. It was easy to see how our client’s desire for open-plan living and minimal styling could breath new life into a traditional period house.
“The client wanted luxury interiors using natural materials presented with a masculine edge.”
As part of the full house refurbishment, the layout of the property was remodelled so the distribution of space was more effective.
To improve the way space flowed throughout the property, we removed walls on each floor of the house to create as many open-plan spaces as possible. We also moved the kitchen from the first floor to the ground floor so the property now has a living space which flows into the garden.
“The studio and living area were combined in a harmonious way.”
In addition, the client wanted to have his studio next to the garden. We knew we wanted to ensure the views from the living area as well. They were the highlight of the space. Set against an exquisite backdrop of uncomplicated, high-calibre design, it was the perfect pairing and a great way to amplify space across the renovation.
We proposed the kitchen and dining area on the ground floor. This allows a good flow between the garden and the living space on the first floor.
At this point, it was important to create a gorgeous kitchen design as this was seen right from the entrance. We designed an open-plan kitchen where our clients could entertain, dine, relax and gather with loved ones throughout the year.
Also, the elegant kitchen island and the marble finishes ensured a luxurious mood for this floor. It was essential that the full house refurbishment was both practical and luxurious with plenty of storage.
Giving the room balance and calm, the floating shelf and the marble wall are connecting the kitchen with the dining area.
“The marble and backlighting give the room a clean, light, high-end finish.”
Also, with the dining table and the seating area right next to the windows, the open-plan kitchen is a versatile, spacious area where the owner can prepare food, dine and socialise.
“It was essential that the kitchen refurbishment was both practical and luxurious. The sumptuous marble island draw the eye into the centre of the room to create a sense of space.”
For this whole house refurbishment, we wanted the living room to be a luxurious yet tranquil and cosy place to relax. For this reason, exquisite details give the living room a high-end, contemporary finish.
“The luxe, monochrome colour scheme and minimal look is in continuity with the rest of the renovation.”
Following the design scheme and main concept for the interior design project, the sumptuous sofa and marble coffee table are deluxe highlights that are practical too.
In addition, ornate wood panelling in warm wood, furnishings in tonal variations of light grey, abstract lighting and bespoke storage in dark hues are elegant features with a masculine edge. Taking the renovation from traditional to contemporary this is a luxe, timeless look.
“The styling matches the palette and materials used throughout the remodel and is repeated on the balcony, making the boundary between indoor and outdoor invisible.”
Amplifying the sense of space, black marble, low storage in dark hues, a low coffee and the absence of traditional wall shelving give this house renovation a modern, Cali-cool look that makes a gentle statement. Meanwhile, under-stairs storage adds further room to stow items out of sight.
At the same time, the outdoor area was an important part of this full house refurbishment. The owner wanted to be able to make better use of the garden.
“As part of the property renovation, we transformed the garden into a calm, spacious place to relax and entertain.”
For this purpose, box planters, vertical botanicals, rectangular floor tiles in light grey, abstract lighting and wood-panelled fencing in warm wood, ensure the internal styling continues seamlessly outside, enhancing the sense of space.
Uninterrupted use of floor tiles in light-grey marble promotes indoor-outdoor living whilst drawing the eye to the centre of the garden where the monochrome dining set adds yet another place to dine.
For the bathrooms and ensuite, large tiles in neutral grey marble are used seamlessly across the walls and floor to expand the space. Likewise, oversize, wall-to-wall mirrors with backlighting opposite walk-in showers, help to further amplify the sense of space.
“Maximising the space, the floating vanity, backlighting, sumptuous walk-in shower and his n’ hers sinks in the ensuite are practical features which help to make this house refurbishment feel luxurious. “
For the most part, high-grade, natural materials in neutral hues are accompanied by gentle accents of organic colour to add interest and personality. The calming, monochrome colour scheme and natural motifs turn both spaces into soothing retreats where the owner can relax and unwind.
For the bathroom refurbishments, clean lines and uncomplicated, elegant styling draw the eyes away from the walls and into the space. Making the rooms feel light and airy, they highlight the beautiful yet simple abstract forms and precise proportions which are a consistent theme throughout this house renovation.
“Bespoke wooden storage in a warm tone adds a gentle contrast of colour. “
Blending effortlessly into the background, the custom storage is a welcome practical solution from our bespoke furniture service, ensuring plenty of storage is available across the property.
By the same token, we wanted to make the bedrooms for the renovation uncomplicated, relaxing retreats. Bespoke storage, herringbone flooring and wood-panelled headboards ensure the bedrooms are warm, inviting spaces which match the rest of the property refurbishment.
“Soft furnishings in calming light grey hues accompanied by abstract pendant lighting are reminiscent of design features. “
For this purpose, minimal styling ensures the views from the windows are a highlight of the space. Custom joinery from our bespoke joinery service provides much-needed built-in storage and other sumptuous furnishings. Recessed shelving displaying abstract decorative pieces plus spotlights above, create a fresh, contemporary dressing area that’s practical too.
